Animation 4: Applied Animation - Week 1.

I am very excited to start this new project.  We began by choosing our own groups for this task, and I am working with Carla and Nicole. Our first task was to as a group decide which brief we all wanted to do. After sitting and discussing with one another, we decided to do the 'Dogs trust' brief.

We all seam to share a love of dogs, so the decision was clear from the get go.

We made a google drive group, and began making notes straight away, deciding on ideas and rolls.

Carla - Storyboards/Animatic's + gantt chart.
Nicole - Backgrounds
Medi - Character Design.

Here where some plans we made.

  • 1 ten second to begin with.
  • If we do it will be three ten seconds
  • If not we will do 2 15 second ones.

1
Dog abandoned in the street- looking through rubbish for food. BG fades food fades to being fed at dogs trust - then camera zoom out - hand shake - voice over - FACT - then happy dog with fam eating their food being loved.

1
Dog wants to go for walk, lead in mouth - owner wanna know - fade to dogs trust, being walked, zoom out happy dog with fam.

1
Baby being born, dogs getting in the way - neglected - owner returns dog to dogs trust- finds new family.

1
Moving-  because the place the owners are moving to can't have a pet, meaning they have to give it to a shelter.

We also made a mind map to make our ideas a little more clear.

As the character Designer I did a mood bord and asked my team if these sort of styles where ok with them, which they both seamed to like.
I then went on to do some initial sketches:

Than after finding a style I liked I went ahead and did some digital versions of the dogs.

The team really seamed to like the designs.
After talking more with the team, we decided we would only need 2 main dogs, and one should be a terroir due to rescue homes usually housing terrier type dogs the most.

Here is our first official dog Fin.
